Visas and travel expenses
All participants to the conference should take care of their own travel arrangements and eventual visas and authorizations to join the conference. Financial aid (travel grant, best paper grants and reduction of registration fees) may be granted under certain conditions (see below).
Ethiopia has set up an online visa application platform (https://www.evisa.gov.et/#/home).
We have come to know that there are some fraud websites which have similar look and feel with Ethiopian official visa website. Please note that the Ethiopian Government doesn't have any agreement with the owners of those websites. Any visa application submitted or payment made through these websites is not acceptable. Please do not submit visa application on , ,
or others and always prefer to apply for a visa at the Ethiopian embassy of your country, if possible, in order to limit the risks.
We suggest to apply for a regular tourist visa, which can be issued as you land in Addis Ababa airport or in advance, with the Ethiopian online visa application platform and the Ethiopian embassy in your country. If you must have a business/conference visa, you should first register on the online platform (https://www.conference-addis2018.com/) and then, send a mail to email@example.com to request a formal invitation letter from our Ethiopian partners at EiABC (please take in considération this might take time). In order to be valid and being processed by our partners at EiABC, this request should include a scan of your passport.
Participants are warmly encouraged to consult the tips and recommendations issued by their home country's Foreign Affairs Services for travelers to Ethiopia, with special regards to security and health issues.
We also strongly recommend participants to notify their stay to their own national Embassy in Ethiopia.

Waiver of registration fees and travel grants:
Early-stage scholars enrolled in a Master degree and/or Doctoral programme and who do not benefit of a scholarship of financial support are entitled to a full waiver of registration fees. A limited number of travel grants (around 10 grants) will be made available for early-stage scholars as well as for young professionals under the age of 35 at the time of the conference. Participants wishing to apply for such grant are required to submit a full-length original papers and to inform the organizing committee. Available travel grants are not likely to cover the full cost of travel. A preference will be granted to applicants residing or originary from African countries and the Global South.
Please note that all participants have to take care of their accommodation by themselves.
Most of the hotels in Addis Ababa can provide a shuttle service from the airport.

Registration fees are 50 euros for early birds (until the 1st of September 2018) and 70 euros for regular registration (from the 1st of September 2018 to the 15th of October 2018). Payments are available by western union transfer, RIA, paypal or direct bank transfer. Bank transfer instructions and terms and conditions are indicated on the payment page.
Please note that the registration is nominative. In the case of a paper with multiple authors, each author must register to participate in the conference. Several registrations can be done at the same time.

Home to more than 3,000,000 inhabitants, lying at an altitude of 2.300 m over sea level, with a mildly temperate climate, Addis Ababa is globally accessible from the new Bole International Airport. In addition, Addis Ababa hosts the UN - Economic Commission for Africa (UN-ECA) and the Headquarter of the African Union (AU). The capital city of Ethiopia is a vantage point from which to observe and discuss the current state of emerging architectural, urban design and planning challenges in Africa and the Global South.
The conference will take place at the UNCC-AA, the UN-ECA's Conference Center. The conference center is accessible from ECA road (see map below and photos at the end of the page).
The UN-ECA Conference Center is a fully integrated and secured complex with state-of-the-art facilities, large meeting rooms, exhibition space, advanced audio-visual equipment, high-speed wireless internet connections and catering services.
For security reasons, only participants registered by October 15th to the conference will be authorised to enter the venue’s premises.
Lunch and coffee breaks are included in registration fees and will be provided at the venue. The walking diner on Monday evening and guided tours are additional services, other diners won’t be provided by the conference organizers.
The venue is a fully non-smoking facility.
